💬 Communication: 💬 Chat between employees and employers (PayTask Help)

What is Chat in PayTask

Chat is a tool for communication between workers and employers in the piece-rate payroll system. The employer sees all messages from their workers in one chat, while the worker communicates with each employer separately.

How to open the chat

In the main menu, select the item 💬 Chat. A list of available chats will open:

  • For the employer: My chat as an employer — a general chat with all workers
  • For the worker: a list of chats with each employer separately

The number of unread messages is displayed next to the chat name as a blue badge.

Sending messages

To send a message:

  1. Open the required chat from the list
  2. Enter text in the input field (maximum 5000 characters)
  3. Click the ✉️ Send button or use the key combination Ctrl+Enter

Messages are updated automatically; new ones appear without reloading the page.

Inserting a task group link

The employer can insert a link to a task group in a message:

  1. Click the 🔗 button next to the input field
  2. In the window that opens, select the required task group
  3. The link will be automatically inserted into the message text

The worker, following the link, will see the task group in their list.

You can also copy and paste a link to a task or task group from the comments page into the chat.

Worker email notifications

The employer can send an email notification to workers about an important message:

  1. When sending a message, check the box Notify workers by email about this message
  2. After sending, the notification settings page will open
  3. Select the workers to send the notification to

Editing and deleting messages

You can edit or delete your messages:

  • Editing: click the ✏️ button under the message, make changes, and click ✅ Save
  • Deletion: click the  button under the message and confirm the action

The employer can delete any messages in their chat. Edited messages are marked with the label edited.

Unread messages

Unread messages are highlighted with a gray background:

  • For the employer: messages from workers that have not yet been read
  • For the worker: new messages from the employer after the last visit to the chat

Messages are automatically marked as read when viewed. The number of unread messages is displayed in the menu next to the item 💬 Chat.

Message navigation

The following features are available in the chat:

  • Auto-scroll: when new messages are received, the chat automatically scrolls down if you were at the bottom of the list
  • Loading old messages: older messages are automatically loaded when scrolling up
  • Jump to message: when following a link with an anchor (for example, from a notification), the chat automatically scrolls to the required message

Notification subscription

The worker can manage their subscription to notifications about new messages from the employer:

  • Accept notifications: click the 📧 Accept notifications button at the top of the chat
  • Decline notifications: click the 🔕 Decline notifications button

When unsubscribing, you will not receive email notifications about new messages from this employer.

Chat features

  • Links in messages automatically become clickable
  • Message time is displayed according to your time zone
  • The employer can send notifications to workers using the 🔔 Notifications button under their messages
  • Maximum message length is 5000 characters
